Westmorland Music Trust

The Westmorland Music Trust was established as the Westmorland Music Council in 1945 by an enthusiastic group of people with a love of music, who wished to promote music-making across the then county of Westmorland.

The Trust's historic responsibility for giving financial aid to young musicians has now been transferred to Keldwyth Grants.

The Trust produces an online Concert Diary, which gives details of as many concerts as possible in the area, providing useful information to members and helping to avoid clashes of events. This has been an important part of our function from the start. In addition, a monthly newsletter is sent out giving details of events for the following three months. If you wish to be added to this mailing list, which is fully compliant with GDPR legislation, please email jeanrobinson1946@gmail.com.

The Trust has overall responsibility for the Mary Wakefield Westmorland Music Festival together with the prestigious Jim Noble Award, which recognises outstanding solo performances during the Festival.

It promotes the Westmorland Music Trust Gala Concert, which showcases secondary school music and which is hosted in turn by each secondary school. We also support the Westmorland Youth Orchestra, as well as local choirs and ensembles.
