Prospectus for Adjudicated Classes

CLASS 1 - PIANO SOLO
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 9 and 10
Test piece: Own choice, Grade 5 standard or above. Time of performance must not exceed 5 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £5

CLASS 2 - PIANO SOLO
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 11 to 13
Test piece: Own choice, Grade 7 standard or above. Time of performance must not exceed 8 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £5

CLASS 3 - PIANO SOLO
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 7 to 9
Test piece: Own choice, Grade 3 standard or above. Time of performance must not exceed 4 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £5

CLASS 4 - PIANO DUET FOR FOUR HANDS
Qualification:
Open to performers in Years 10 to 13
Test piece: Own choice. See Rule 7
Fee: £7.50

CLASS 5 - PIANO DUET FOR FOUR HANDS
Qualification:
Open to performers in Year 9 and under
Test piece: Own choice. See Rule 7

CLASS 6 - VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO OR DOUBLE BASS SOLO
Qualification:
Open to performers in Years 7 and 8
Test piece: Own choice, Grade 3 standard or above. Time of performance must not exceed 3 minutes. See Rule 7

CLASS 7 - VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO OR DOUBLE BASS SOLO
Qualification:
Open to performers in Years 9 and 10
Test piece: Own choice, Grade 5 standard or above. Time of performance must not exceed 5 minutes. See Rule 7

CLASS 8 - VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO OR DOUBLE BASS SOLO
Qualification:
Open to performers in Years 11 to 13
Test piece: Own choice, Grade 7 standard or above. Time of performance must not exceed 8 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £5
Although a competent accompanist is available, performers in this class are encouraged to provide their own.

CLASS 9 - INSTRUMENTAL DUET (Two performers only, any combination of instruments)
Qualification:
Open to performers in Year 8 and under
Test piece: Own choice. Time of performance must not exceed 5 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £7.50

CLASS 10 - INSTRUMENTAL DUET
(Two performers only, any combination of instruments)
Qualification:
Open to perforners in Years 9 to 13
Test piece: Own choice. Time of performance must not exceed 8 minutes. See Rule 7

CLASS 11 - INSTRUMENTAL TRIO
(Any combination of instruments, which may include a piano)
Qualification: Open to performers in Year 13 and under
Test piece: Own choice. Time of performance must not exceed 8 minutes. See Rule 7

CLASS 12 - CHAMBER MUSIC GROUP
(Any combination of four to eight instruments, one instrument per part. May include a piano. No conductor. Choice of music taken into consideration)
Qualification: Open to performers in Year 8 and under
Test piece: Own choice. Time of performance must not exceed 8 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £10

CLASS 13 - CHAMBER MUSIC GROUP
(Any combination of four to eight instruments, one instrument per part. May include a piano. No conductor. Choice of music taken into consideration)
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 9 to 13
Test piece: Own choice. Time of performance must not exceed 8 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £10

CLASS 14 - RECORDER ENSEMBLE
Qualification:
Open to not less than 6 performers, in Year 13 and under
Test piece: Own choice. Time of performance must not exceed 8 minutes. See Rule 7

CLASS 15 - WOODWIND INSTRUMENT SOLO
(recorder, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon)
Qualification: Open to performers in Year 8 and under
Test piece: Own choice, Grade 3 standard or above. Time of performance must not exceed 3 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £4.50 up to Year 6, £5 Years 7 and 8

(with or without accompaniment, minimum of 5 voices)
Qualification: Open to choirs from churches, chapels, guilds, WIs and similar organisations
Test piece: Own choice of TWO contrasting songs. No time limit. See Rule 7
Fee: £10

CLASS 23 - GROUP OF SINGERS
(with or without accompaniment, minimum of 5 voices)
Qualification: Youth choir (not school based)
Test piece: Own choice of TWO contrasting songs. No time limit. See Rule 7
Fee: £10

CLASS 24 - SPECIALIST MADRIGAL
Qualification:
Open to choirs with 10-15 voices
Test piece: Any 5-part madrigal. See Rule 7
Fee: £10

CLASS 25 - VOCAL DUET
(Accompaniment optional)
Qualification: Open to performers 18 years and over. Any combination of voices. Performers may sing twice, but with different partners.
Test piece: Own choice. Time of performance must not exceed 4 minutes. See Rule 7

CLASS 26 - LADIES' VOCAL TRIO
(Accompaniment optional)
Qualification: Open

CLASS 27 - MIXED VOICE QUARTET

Qualification: Open to performers in Years 7 and 8

CLASS 30 - SONGS FROM THE SHOWS
(Any voice)
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 7 to 9
Test piece: Own choice from a show or film suitable to this age group. Time of performance must not exceed 4 minutes. See Rules 7 and 10

CLASS 31 - VOCAL DUET
(Any combination of voices. Performers may sing twice in this class but with different partners.)
Qualification: Open to performers in Year 9 and under
Test piece: Own choice. See Rule 7
Fee: £7.50

CLASS 32 - VOCAL SOLO
Qualification:
Open to sopranos/altos in Years 11 to 13
Test piece: Own choice. One song by either Purcell, Arne, Boyce, or any twentieth-century British composer. See Rule 7
Arrangements of folk or traditional songs by these composers are not allowed.
Fee: £5

CLASS 33 - VOCAL SOLO
Qualification:
Open to tenors, baritones or basses in Year 13 and under
Test piece: Own choice. One song by either Purcell, Arne, Boyce, or any twentieth-century British composer. See Rule 7
Arrangements of folk or traditional songs by these composers are not allowed.
Fee: £4.50 up to Year 6, £5 up to Year 13

CLASS 34 - VOCAL DUET
(Any combination of voices. Performers may sing twice in this class but with different partners.)
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 10 to 13

CLASS 35 - SONGS FROM THE SHOWS
(Any voice)
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 12 and 13

Qualification: Open to performers in Years 10 and 11

CLASS 37 - VOCAL RECITAL
(Any voice)
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 11 to 13
Test piece: Three songs:
(a) pre-19th century song or aria
(b) German lied or French chanson (original language)
(c) Any 20th or 21st century British art song (not from an opera or show)

CLASS 38 - ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS (Any voice)
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 5 and 6
Test piece: Own choice but not from a stage or screen musical. See Rule 7

(Any voice)
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 5 and 6

CLASS 40 - VOCAL SOLO
(Girls and boys trebles)
Qualification: Open to performers in Years 9 and 10
Test piece: Own choice. One song by either Purcell, Arne, Boyce or any twentieth-century British composer. See Rule 7.

CLASS 41 - SOLO FOLKSONG (Unaccompanied, any voice)
Qualification: Open to performers in Year 13 and under
Test piece: Own choice. See Rule 7
Fee: £4.50 up to Year 6, £5 up to Year 13

CLASS 42 - PIANO SOLO
Qualification:
Open to performers in Years 4 to 6
Test piece: Own choice. One piece, Classical or Romantic, between 1750 and 1900. Time of performance must not exceed 3 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £4.50

CLASS 43 - PIANO SOLO
Qualification:
Open to performers in Years 4 to 6
Test piece: Own choice. One piece, twentieth or twenty-first century, including jazz. Time of performance must not exceed 3 minutes. See Rule 7
Fee: £4.50

CLASS 44 - COMPOSERS CLASS
(Compositions mut be under 5 minutes in duration. A live performance or tape to be presented on the day. An entry form to be completed in the usual way. In addition, a copy of the composition - manuscript and tape/CD - must be sent to the Entries Secretary by Saturday 9th February 2013.)
